Evidence-Based Exercise As Medicine

An accredited exercise physiologist is not a personal trainer. We hold a university degree in exercise science and are clinical health professionals — ESSA-accredited, Medicare-registered and NDIS-approved. We prescribe exercise the way a doctor prescribes medication: precisely, with clinical reasoning and ongoing monitoring.

1

Comprehensive Health Assessment

Full medical history review, functional capacity assessment and goal-setting session to understand your condition, current capacity and what matters most to you.

2

Personalised Exercise Program

An individually designed program based on your diagnosis, fitness level and goals — not a generic template. Every session is adapted based on your response.

3

Ongoing Monitoring & Progression

Regular reassessment, objective outcome tracking and program progression. We report back to your GP, specialist or case manager throughout your care.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between an exercise physiologist and a personal trainer?

An accredited exercise physiologist (AEP) holds a minimum four-year university degree in clinical exercise science and is accredited by ESSA. AEPs are registered healthcare providers under Medicare, NDIS and WorkCover. Personal trainers typically hold a certificate-level qualification and work with healthy populations.

Is exercise physiology covered by Medicare?

Yes, for patients with a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan from their GP. You can receive up to five Medicare-rebated allied health visits per calendar year under a GP Management Plan and Team Care Arrangement.

How do I access exercise physiology through the NDIS?

You need Capacity Building funding in your NDIS plan under Improved Health and Wellbeing. Contact us to discuss your plan goals and we can coordinate directly with your support coordinator.

Do you offer mobile exercise physiology sessions?

Yes. Our exercise physiologists deliver mobile sessions across Sydney — in your home, aged care facility, local park or community gym. This is particularly valuable for NDIS participants or those with mobility limitations.

What does a first exercise physiology appointment involve?

Your first session includes a comprehensive health history, relevant functional assessments, goal-setting and the beginning of your personalised program. Allow 60 minutes for your initial appointment.

Can exercise physiology help with mental health?

Yes — exercise has Level 1 evidence for treating depression and anxiety. Our AEPs design progressive programs that harness these benefits, often working alongside mental health treatment teams.
